Law firm website design for Estonian practices

People with a legal problem choose a lawyer, not a design. They need to see whether the firm handles their kind of matter, who would be working on it, and how to get in touch without putting sensitive details into a public form. A law firm website is built around those three questions.

What clients look for on a law firm website

Most visitors arrive with a narrow search: divorce and division of property, an employment dispute, debt recovery, a real estate transaction, setting up a company in Estonia. They want to confirm within a minute that the firm covers that area and see which lawyer handles it.

The second question is trust. Adjectives do not build it; verifiable facts do: each lawyer’s qualifications and professional status, the languages they work in, and a clear first step for new enquiries.

What a law firm website includes

  • A separate page for each practice area, with its own address, title and description for search
  • Lawyer profiles: photo, professional title, education, practice areas and working languages
  • A consultation request form, with enquiries delivered to Telegram and email
  • Online appointment booking for consultations, if the firm works by appointment
  • English, Estonian and Russian versions on separate URLs
  • Privacy policy and terms templates, plus a cookie banner with a genuine accept or reject choice
  • An admin panel where texts, profiles and practice areas can be updated without a developer

Practice area pages and lawyer profiles

A single “Services” page with twenty bullet points helps neither visitors nor search. A dedicated page for each practice area can explain which situations the firm helps with, which documents are usually needed and how the first stage works — and it can rank for that specific search.

Each lawyer profile links to the relevant practice areas, so the employment law page shows who handles those cases and the profile shows which matters that person works on. Professional titles must be accurate: in Estonia, only members of the Estonian Bar Association may use the titles “advokaat” (attorney) and “vandeadvokaat” (sworn attorney), so the website must not blur the line between attorneys and other lawyers at the firm.

Consultation requests and confidentiality

The request form asks only for what a first reply needs: name, contact details, preferred language, practice area and a short description. Case details and documents are discussed later, directly with the lawyer, so sensitive information that nobody needs at this stage never passes through the form.

A note next to the form explains who receives the message and how it is stored, and the privacy policy describes how personal data is processed. The site runs on HTTPS, the database is backed up regularly, and visitor analytics are built in, without third-party trackers.

Professional advertising rules for attorneys

Attorneys in Estonia are bound by the Estonian Bar Association’s rules on advertising and professional ethics. Website copy is written with those rules in mind, and the firm reviews it before publication.

  • Client names and case details only with the client’s explicit consent, or where the information is already public
  • No promises about the outcome of a case and no misleading wording
  • Comparisons with other firms only on verifiable facts, without disparaging colleagues
  • Only verifiable figures about the firm: number of attorneys, practice areas, experience
  • No intrusive marketing: no emails sent without the recipient’s consent

A multilingual site for an international client base

In Estonia, people search for legal help in Estonian, Russian and English, and foreign companies and expats relocating to Estonia usually need English. Each language version gets its own URL, its own title and description, and copy written for how people search in that language rather than a line-by-line translation.

Every lawyer profile states which languages that lawyer advises in — answering one of the first questions before an enquiry is even sent.

How the project runs

  • Briefing: practice areas, lawyers, languages and how enquiries are handled
  • Site structure and the list of practice area pages
  • Copy: the firm’s own material or texts prepared by the studio, each page approved by the firm
  • Design, build, form and notification setup
  • Mobile testing, launch and admin panel training

Pricing

The cost depends on the scope

Starting prices are shown on each service page and on the Pricing page. The exact cost depends on the scope — languages, sections, payments, booking — and is worked out for the task and fixed in the quote and the contract before work starts.

Describe the task

What the site has to do, who it is for and what takes up your time today. A reply comes within 24 hours — with clarifying questions or a preliminary estimate of cost and timing.

Quote and deadline in the contract

What is included, for how much and by when is fixed before the work starts. The price does not grow along the way: new large sections are priced separately and in advance, not on the invoice.

Monthly maintenance

Hosting, certificate, platform and security updates, backups and small edits — a separate monthly line in the quote. Domain renewal is paid to the registrar unless the contract says otherwise. If you decide to leave, you take the content as an archive and the domain, which is registered in your name.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can client testimonials be published on the website?

Yes, if the client has agreed to publication. For attorneys this follows from confidentiality rules, so testimonials are added only with confirmed permission.

Does this work for a lawyer practising alone?

Yes. There is one profile and fewer practice areas, but the structure is the same: practice area pages, a request form and a clear first step.

How is data from the request form protected?

The site runs on HTTPS, enquiries go to the firm’s email and Telegram, and the database is backed up. The form deliberately collects minimal information so case details are not sent through it.

Who writes the practice area pages?

The firm can supply its own material or have the studio prepare the copy. In both cases the firm checks and approves the legal content.

Can clients book a consultation online?

Yes. The platform includes online booking: a lawyer’s free slots, rescheduling and cancellation by link, and reminders. If the firm prefers to assess a matter first, the request form is enough.
