Website development: frequently asked questions
These are the questions people ask most often before ordering a website — from timelines and cost to who owns the domain. If yours is not here, write via the form at the bottom of the page.
How to use this page
Questions go from general to specific: first timelines and cost, then content, domain and ownership, and finally support, payments and the contract. Answers are short; details are on the service pages.
How to ask your own question
Write via the form below or by email in English, Estonian or Russian. The reply comes within 24 hours. If the question concerns a specific project, include the address of your current site or describe the task in a couple of sentences.
Where to find pricing information
Starting prices for all services are collected on the Pricing page, in a table grouped into websites, marketing, branding, maintenance, industries and integrations. The same page explains what a “from” price includes, what raises it and what the contract fixes.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to build a website?
It depends on the scope: a landing page is quicker, an online store with payments and catalogue migration takes longer. The timeline is given in the estimate, fixed in the contract and counted from the day copy and photos are handed over.
What determines the cost of a website?
The type of site, the number of pages and languages, the features and integrations needed, and whether the content is ready. Starting prices are listed on the Pricing page; the exact amount comes in an itemised quote that is fixed in the contract before work begins.
Who writes the copy and takes the photos?
By default the materials come from you: the studio provides the structure and the questions to answer, and edits the language. Copywriting and translation can be ordered as a separate line in the quote.
Whose name is the domain registered in?
Always the client’s. The studio only connects it to the site and sets up the HTTPS certificate.
Where is the site hosted?
On the studio’s platform: hosting, the certificate, updates and backups are part of monthly maintenance. There is no need to buy hosting separately.
Who owns the website?
The domain, copy, photos, products, orders and customer data are yours and can be exported as an archive at any time. The engine belongs to the studio and is provided for as long as maintenance runs.
Can the site be edited without a developer?
Yes. In the admin panel you change copy, prices, photos and services and handle orders and bookings. The layout cannot be broken from there.
Can the website be in three languages?
Yes, English, Estonian and Russian versions are built into the engine. Each has its own URL and meta tags, and search engines understand how they relate through hreflang.
Is SEO included in website development?
The basic technical setup is: titles, descriptions, sitemap, language versions, speed. SEO services after launch are a separate job, and nobody can honestly guarantee Google rankings.
What does support after launch include?
Hosting, engine and security updates, backups, help with the admin panel and small edits. Larger improvements are estimated separately and in advance.
How do payments work?
Payment terms are written into the contract before work begins. Monthly maintenance is a separate line.
Can you move a site from Wix, WordPress or another platform?
Yes. Copy, pages and the catalogue are moved to the studio’s engine, and old page URLs are redirected to the new ones so search traffic is not lost. The migration scope is included in the quote.
Is there a contract?
Yes, always, and before work begins. It covers the scope, price, deadline, payment terms, maintenance and the terms on which you can leave with your domain and data.
Can card payments and bank links be connected?
Yes, via Montonio: bank links for Estonian banks and card payments are built into the engine. Maksekeskus and Stripe are connected as separate development.
