Online store development in Tallinn
An online store for a Tallinn retailer: a product catalogue in Estonian, Russian and English, payments through Montonio and parcel locker delivery. The studio works remotely from Narva and hands over the store with an admin panel where you manage products and orders yourself.

Who needs their own online store in Tallinn
An own store makes sense when selling through social media and marketplaces runs into commission fees, manual messaging or someone else’s rules. In Tallinn these are typically shops with a showroom that sell both in person and online; local fashion, cosmetics and homeware brands; and sellers whose customers speak different languages.
Competition in the capital is strong: large Estonian e-shops and international platforms are one click away. A smaller store wins not on range but on its niche, the customer’s language and service — clear delivery and a reply within a day.
A catalogue in three languages
- Product pages in Estonian, Russian and English, each on its own URL so Google can index every version.
- Russian for Tallinn’s Russian-speaking shoppers, English for foreigners who live and work in the city.
- Descriptions do not all have to be ready at launch: start with the main language and add the others later.
- Prices and photos are shared across versions — change them once, not three times.
Payments, delivery and orders
| What | How it works | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Payments | Montonio: Estonian bank links and cards | Built into the engine |
| Delivery | Choice of Omniva, DPD or SmartPosti parcel locker at checkout | Via Montonio Shipping |
| Stripe, Maksekeskus | Connected on request | Separate development within the project |
| Orders | List in the admin panel, notifications to Telegram and email | You update the statuses |
The legal side of selling online
The store comes with template terms of sale, returns policy and privacy policy. They need to be adapted to your products and, if in doubt, checked by a lawyer.
EU consumers have the right to withdraw from an online purchase within 14 days. From 1 September 2026, stores in Estonia must also offer a clearly labelled online withdrawal function — this is taken into account when the store’s specification is written.
What the store owner gets
- An admin panel to add products and change prices and photos yourself.
- Built-in analytics showing visits and viewed pages, without third-party trackers.
- The domain in your name and a full content export — the store is not locked to the studio.
- HTTPS and database backups.
Pricing
The cost depends on the scope
Starting prices are shown on each service page and on the Pricing page. The exact cost depends on the scope — languages, sections, payments, booking — and is worked out for the task and fixed in the quote and the contract before work starts.
Describe the task
What the site has to do, who it is for and what takes up your time today. A reply comes within 24 hours — with clarifying questions or a preliminary estimate of cost and timing.
Quote and deadline in the contract
What is included, for how much and by when is fixed before the work starts. The price does not grow along the way: new large sections are priced separately and in advance, not on the invoice.
Monthly maintenance
Hosting, certificate, platform and security updates, backups and small edits — a separate monthly line in the quote. Domain renewal is paid to the registrar unless the contract says otherwise. If you decide to leave, you take the content as an archive and the domain, which is registered in your name.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can we use Stripe instead of Montonio?
Yes, but Stripe is not built into the engine: connecting it is separate development, estimated as part of the project. Montonio works out of the box.
Can customers pick up orders at our Tallinn shop?
Omniva, DPD and SmartPosti parcel lockers are built in. If you need pickup from a showroom or warehouse, it is discussed when the specification is drawn up.
Can products be moved from our old store?
Migration is estimated separately: it depends on the format in which the data can be exported from the old platform.
Can we start with the store in English only?
You can, but in Tallinn it is worth planning the Estonian version from the start: most local shoppers search in Estonian, and the version can be added without rebuilding the store.
