Maksekeskus payment integration for an online store
Maksekeskus is an Estonian payment service for online stores. The studio’s engine does not include it out of the box: a Maksekeskus integration is separate development within a project. The scope, timeline and exact price are estimated for the task and fixed in the contract before work starts.

When businesses choose Maksekeskus
Most often when the store already has an active Maksekeskus contract and no reason to switch providers — for example, when moving from WooCommerce or another platform. Another reason is a payment or delivery method the business needs that Maksekeskus offers.
Without an existing contract, and when the goal is simply to accept payments from shoppers in Estonia, the built-in Montonio is faster to launch. The business makes the decision after comparing both providers’ terms.
What Maksekeskus offers
- Bank links for Baltic banks, including Swedbank, SEB, LHV, Luminor and Coop.
- Card payments, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay through the card payment module.
- Hire purchase and split payments through a Maksekeskus partner.
- Its own shipping solutions with Omniva, DPD, SmartPosti and other carriers’ lockers.
- A developer API and a test environment.
What the shopper sees after integration
The same path as with built-in payments: at checkout the shopper picks a bank or card, goes to pay and returns to the order page with a status. Which methods are shown, and in what order, is agreed during the estimate.
What the owner gets in the admin panel
The aim is for an order paid through Maksekeskus to look the same in the admin panel as one paid through Montonio: payment state, amount, time and the option to re-check the payment. The exact scope — for instance, whether shipping goes through the Maksekeskus module or Montonio Shipping lockers are enough — is written into the contract.
What the business needs to provide
- A Maksekeskus contract in your company’s name. Fees are paid to Maksekeskus under its pricing.
- Access to the Maksekeskus dashboard: shop ID and API keys for both the test and live environments.
- A list of payment and delivery methods that should appear at checkout.
How the work goes
- Reviewing the task: which payment methods are needed, whether shipping is included, what is already set up in the dashboard.
- Estimating scope and timeline and fixing them in the contract.
- Development and testing in the Maksekeskus test environment: payment, cancellation, return to the site, payment notification.
- Switching to live keys and checking the first real payment.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Why is Maksekeskus not built in like Montonio?
The engine is built around one payment provider that covers bank links, cards and parcel lockers under a single contract. A second provider is integrated for a specific project.
Can an existing Maksekeskus contract be kept when moving to a new site?
Yes, the contract stays yours. The new site connects to the same account through API keys, and this is part of the separate development scope.
What does the cost of the integration depend on?
The starting price is shown at the top of the page and covers the minimal typical scope. The final amount depends on whether you need payments only or shipping too, how many payment methods and whether refunds should be handled from the admin panel. It is fixed in the quote and contract.
Can payments run through Maksekeskus and lockers through Montonio?
Yes. Parcel lockers through Montonio Shipping are built in and work regardless of which provider handles the payment.
Can the Maksekeskus shipping solution be used for parcel lockers?
Yes, though it is also separate development. If Montonio Shipping covers the lockers, the integration scope is smaller, since only the payment part has to be built.
