Fitness club and gym website design
Visitors to a gym website usually want three things: check the class timetable, book a session and find out what a membership costs. The site is built so all of that takes a couple of minutes on a phone.

What a fitness club website needs to do
- A group class timetable that the front desk can update
- Online booking for personal training based on each trainer’s availability
- Pages for each activity: strength, yoga, Pilates, martial arts, kids’ classes
- Trainer profiles with photo, specialisation and languages
- Memberships, trial sessions and class packs sold with online payment
- Location on a map, parking and how to get in
- Three language versions: English, Estonian and Russian
A class timetable that stays up to date
The timetable is the most visited page on any club website, and an outdated one drives people away faster than a missing one. That is why it is edited in the admin panel: a substitute trainer, a cancelled class or a new group can be added from a phone in a couple of minutes.
The timetable is laid out so that day, time, activity and trainer are readable on a narrow screen without sideways scrolling.
Each activity has its own page explaining what the class involves, which fitness level it suits and what to bring. These pages answer beginners’ questions and can appear in searches such as “yoga for beginners in Tallinn”.
Online booking with trainers
The built-in booking system works the same way as for a salon: each trainer has their own schedule and services, clients see available slots and book themselves. Rescheduling and cancellation work through a link in the confirmation email, reminders go out in advance, and booking notifications arrive in Telegram and by email.
Booking a place in a group class with a capacity limit is a different task: it means counting places, running a waiting list and closing registration when the class is full. This is not part of the platform’s standard feature set and is built as custom development within the project.
Memberships and payments
A membership, trial session or class pack is sold like a product: the client selects it and pays through Montonio by bank link or card, and the club receives an order with the buyer’s details.
Automatic monthly membership billing is not done through Montonio. Recurring payments require a Stripe subscriptions integration, which is custom development scoped before work starts. Cancellation and refund terms for memberships are set by the club, and it is worth having a lawyer review them.
Built in or custom development
| Task | How it works | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Booking with a trainer | Free slots, rescheduling, reminders | Built in |
| One-off membership payment | Montonio: bank links and cards | Built in |
| Group class timetable | A page the front desk edits | Built in |
| Group class capacity | Place counting, waiting list | Custom development |
| Monthly recurring billing | Stripe subscriptions | Custom development |
| Link to club management software | Integration via the software’s API | Custom development |
If the club already uses management software
Many clubs manage memberships and check-ins in dedicated gym software. In that case the website can send visitors to book in that system, and a direct integration is possible if the software has an open API. This is checked before the project is estimated, so nothing is promised that the software cannot support.
Without a direct integration, the website’s job is to present the club, show the timetable and sell trial sessions, while membership management stays in the club’s software.
What the club provides for launch
- A list of activities and trainers, with their schedules
- Membership prices and terms of use
- Photos of the gym floor, changing rooms and classes
- A decision on group class booking and recurring billing — these determine the scope of work
Pricing
The cost depends on the scope
Starting prices are shown on each service page and on the Pricing page. The exact cost depends on the scope — languages, sections, payments, booking — and is worked out for the task and fixed in the quote and the contract before work starts.
Describe the task
What the site has to do, who it is for and what takes up your time today. A reply comes within 24 hours — with clarifying questions or a preliminary estimate of cost and timing.
Quote and deadline in the contract
What is included, for how much and by when is fixed before the work starts. The price does not grow along the way: new large sections are priced separately and in advance, not on the invoice.
Monthly maintenance
Hosting, certificate, platform and security updates, backups and small edits — a separate monthly line in the quote. Domain renewal is paid to the registrar unless the contract says otherwise. If you decide to leave, you take the content as an archive and the domain, which is registered in your name.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can memberships be sold with automatic monthly billing?
Yes, but it is custom development: Stripe subscriptions are integrated. In the standard setup Montonio handles one-off payments.
Can the number of places in a group class be limited?
Yes, as additional development within the project: place counting, closing registration when full and, if needed, a waiting list.
Can trainers change their own schedules?
Trainer schedules, days off and services are managed in the admin panel. The club decides who has access to it.
How do clients find out about a cancelled class?
Clients reschedule or cancel personal training by link, and the front desk publishes group timetable changes on the site. Separate cancellation notifications are additional development.
Can trial sessions be sold online?
Yes. A trial session or drop-in visit is sold as a product with Montonio payment, and the club receives the order with the buyer’s contact details.
Does the website need three languages?
For a club in Tallinn or Narva, often yes: people search in Estonian, Russian and English. Each version gets its own URL and copy written for search.
