What managed hosting includes

Hosting is designed for websites built on the studio’s own engine. The server, database and admin panel are configured for that engine, so updates are tested once and rolled out to every site together.

• your website and database on the studio’s cloud infrastructure;
• an HTTPS certificate for your domain, renewed automatically;
• regular database backups covering texts, products, orders and bookings;
• engine and security updates with no action needed from you;
• domain connection, www setup and redirects from old addresses;
• small content fixes as part of the support plan.

Registering a .ee domain in your name

.ee domains are not sold directly by the registry, the Estonian Internet Foundation (Eesti Interneti SA). They are registered through accredited registrars. The domain belongs to the registrant — the company or person it is registered to — and companies and individuals from outside Estonia are eligible too.

The studio helps you find an available name and a suitable registrar, while the application itself is submitted by you or someone with signing authority at your company. Identity is confirmed with an Estonian ID card, Mobile-ID or another method the registrar accepts. That way the domain is legally yours from the start, and the studio only manages the technical DNS records.

If you also sell abroad, a .com or .eu domain can sit alongside the .ee and redirect visitors to your main address.

Email on your own domain

The studio does not provide mailboxes. Email matters more to a business than its website, and it should not depend on who maintains the site. Mailboxes are set up with an email provider you choose — for example Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or the mail service of an Estonian hosting company.

On the studio’s side, the DNS records are configured: MX to receive mail, plus SPF, DKIM and DMARC so messages from your domain are less likely to land in spam. If your email already works, its records are left untouched when the website goes live.

Moving a domain or an existing website

You do not need to change registrars to launch a new site — updating the DNS records at your current registrar is enough. If you do want to move a .ee domain to another registrar, you will need its authorisation code. Your current registrar provides it, and it can also be found in the .ee registrant portal.

When an old website is replaced, every old page is mapped to its closest new equivalent and redirected. Customers’ bookmarks keep working, and Google transfers the visibility the old pages earned to the new addresses. The switchover time is agreed in advance so email is not disrupted.

If you decide to leave

The domain is already yours, so it only needs to be pointed at a new server. Texts, photos, products and orders can be downloaded from the admin panel as a single archive, without asking the studio for permission. Keeping clients by making it hard to leave is no substitute for doing good work.

What affects the cost of hosting and support

Hosting and support appear as a separate monthly line in the contract. The starting price is shown at the top of this page; the exact amount is calculated for your site and fixed before work begins.

• the type of site: a simple business site, a site with online booking, or a shop with orders and payments;
• the volume of photos and files, and the number of languages;
• whether you need help registering the domain and setting up email;
• how many small changes per month you expect from the studio.
